In February, I was sent to Europe once again on a whistle-stop tour to see our agents. Joining forces with the On Show team, I spent evenings presenting in Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen. Arriving in the freezing cold, I was welcomed with an evening of beer and meatball tasting, deciding very quickly it was worth trying a Rudolf meatball. It was a great evening to meet the other exhibitors, sharing stories of our lives in Africa!
Although having completed an On Show tour before, this one had a new set up with presentations to over 40 people each night. Just a small-town girl from Edinburgh and now an even smaller town girl in Lilongwe, this seemed a little terrifying! Thankfully as a group, we had a few old pros who gave me some tips -and no I did not picture anyone naked! Big thanks to Jacqui for helping me settle in with some great introductions! Once the talks were done, we sat down with the agents and had our normal one-on-one chats before a quick dinner and a few cheeky post-show vinos, and then a prize-giving to the agents. Always fun to catch up and it was great to see some familiar faces as well as some new ones.
Braving the cold, we arrived at our next destination early morning. Whilst perhaps the more hardworking of the group went to sales calls a few of us embarked on a quick tour of the cities. As you can imagine most of the Africans hadn’t braved the arctic cold of the Nordics so it was pretty fun to take them around and watch them navigate the snow! We embraced the hop-on-hop-off bus tours – happy to say it was nice to be the tourist for once! With a mix of boats and buses, it was a great way to see some of the cities we usually zoom through.
The trip was great, and after a hectic 4-days the show was sadly over, and I had to leave my newfound friends (not for long- most of them would be with me at ITB the next week 🥳). A massive thank you to the On Show team for having us on their show, showcasing not only the African Product but also the beautiful cities we travelled to. We look forward to our next adventure with you!
Chloe is our marketing manager, hailing from Scotland she has swopped the snow for the sun and joined us in July 2017. She has a rich background in the industry starting out as a guide in South Africa and then working in sales for the last 6 years. She has travelled Africa extensively from the jungles of the Congo to the plains of the Serengeti and now has found herself immersed in Zambia & Malawi. She is a keen explorer and has a firm love of the bush if you can’t reach her in the office she will most definitely be knee deep in elephant poop looking for her beloved dung beetles!
