Each tent has its own en-suite bathroom with a big bath and outdoor shower that looks out onto the river. With your own balcony facing the river, it’s the perfect spot for a sundowner. The lounge and bar area is charming and you get a gorgeous view of the plains in front of you and when you aren’t on an activity the plunge pool makes it all the better to relax and cool off in the African sunshine. Listen to the wildlife around you and take in the scenic views, with one of the most spectacular sunsets around.

Just You & the Wilderness

Kuthengo is one of two camps within the Liwonde National Park, so if you want to enjoy a safari in peace with hardly anyone around then this is the place for you. The park is unspoiled, and you can enjoy walking safaris, game drives and river cruises when staying at Kuthengo, with great sightings of wildlife including, lion, cheetah and rhino. The birdlife on the river is also exciting and elephant and buffalo frequent the banks regularly. You won’t be disappointed with what the park has to offer.

Client Reviews

  • Hidden gem

I would rather not write this review because I want to keep this place a secret! But okay! Me and my husband regret only staying one night in this amazing place! The tent was luxurious and clean with a wonderful mosquito net that had built in air conditioning.

  • wonderful location

From the moment Jason and Michael met us at the airstrip we knew that we were going to have fun! The camp is situated on a beautiful stretch of the Shire River and the tents were just outstanding, Jason and Steegan run a very happy camp and this is very obvious from the moment you arrive in camp, everyone from the head guide Patrick to the chef Dixon and his best mate Amun and all the other staff are laughing and joking with each other but still professional. The highlight of our trip was the surprise Bush Breakfast.
