Pumulani is a piece of lake paradise. The massive rooms are like something out of a James Bond film equipped with sliding doors and not to mention they are built on a hill. Each room is bigger than a London apartment featuring massive en-suite bathrooms with walk in showers and baths big enough for you and a few bond girls! The lodge itself has two pools, one on the beach (as the water here is a little murky) and an infinity pool at the top of the hill, which overlooks the bay and is perfectly placed near the bar for that mid afternoon martini! With a massive dhow you can sail round the lake for either a memorable breakfast or perfect sundowner it is a real treat at the lake.

The rooms here are massive from the huge windows with great views, to the massive beds with AC above them. The rooms all have a separate living area with a private balcony or veranda and a huge en-suite bathroom with a separate bath and walk in shower. The rooms are like mini houses with endless space and at times you’ll probably wonder why you need to leave its comfort at all! But then you see all that’s on offer at the lodge and you wont find it difficult to be tempted outside!
The lodge has its very own large dhow sailboat, crafted out of local wood it sets a perfect gentle pace across the lake. Watch as hippos emerge from the reeds at the edge of the lake, fish eagles swoop as they hunt over the lake and see the people from local surrounding villages go about their daily life fishing in the dug out canoes. On the dhow you can either enjoy a delicious breakfast, a mix of continental and cooked, set our for you on the deck or take to the water as the sky turns orange and pink while the sun sets, gin and tonic in hand (and some tasty snacks!). The dhow is Included in your nightly rate and is well worth more than one excursion!
Pumulani has not one but two pools! A luxury for a lodge next to a vast water source! The water in this part of the lake is a little murky so kayaking and paddle boarding are fine but swimming is a little trickier with the lakes resident animals around! However they have an infinity pool at the top of the lodge (built into the hill), which has incredible views of the lake and is next to the lodge bar. Or a larger swimming pool on the sandy lake shores of the lake at the bottom of the hill, where you can enjoy relaxing on the beach between dips-don’t worry they have a bar down here too!
