Wildlife and The Big 5

Majete is the only official ‘Big 5’ national park in Malawi and is one of the biggest success stories in African conservation. A lot of hard work and development over the years has gone into the reserve and has turned this magical and special location into one of the best places to visit when in Malawi. Their reserve is rich with wildlife, and, although includes the Big 5 there is plenty else to see here, including, Eland, Sable, Lichtenstein’s Hartebeest, Zebra and an impressive population of birdlife. The wildlife flourishes here and we can promise it will be a trip to remember.

Client Reviews

  • Can not fault!

Where do we start… we stayed at thawale lodge for 3 nights over new years, and honestly can not fault the experience. Firstly, the accommodation blew away any expectations we had. We stayed in the luxery tent, and it was comfortable, the outdoor bathroom was beautiful and there is no experience like waking up and seeing wildlife outside your tent. The food was incredible.

  • So Many Animals!

We loved this small lodge. The staff were friendly and helpful and the tent rooms well equiped. But for us the fact that we could sit on the veranda and watch an almost endless stream of wild animals from elephant to guinea fowl visit the water hole just 50m away was the highlight. We almost didn’t need the game drives but these were also excellent with good animal and bird sightings. We were given the luxury tent.

  • Birthday Weekend at Thawale

My boyfriend and I spent one night at Thawale, we enjoyed the place so much. We had very good service, the food was excellent and our room was comfortable and perfect as it was my birthday, Lester had us in the honeymoon tent. The game viewing from the dining area and our tent (tent 6) was just perfect as well we got to see a lot, so much activity happening by the water hole.. The birthday cake was so tasty, thank you all for a perfect stay 🙂
