Lodge Key Features

Walk with the Ellies

Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve, also known in Malawi as the Elephant Sanctuary, had 500 elephant moved from other parks within Malawi to this special location.

If you want to enjoy the wilderness and have a love for the glorious African Elephant then this is the place to head to.

Head out on a short walk along the river bank or head out on a hike to the more remote areas.

One of the wonderful guides will help track a herd of elephant, there are so many of them to see around and if you catch them on a good day they can be extremely entertaining.

A Relaxing Retreat

Relax in one of the hammocks with a cold drink in hand and enjoy the sights of the river or woodland that surrounds the area.

The wilderness is on your doorstep and at Bua River Lodge you can hear all the wonderful noises of the bush that surround you.

Nothing is too big or too small when staying here, the times are set around you, you choose when you want to do an activity, what time you wish to eat and if you want to enjoy the wild then you are left to do just that – a home away from home.

Accommodation

The accommodation at Bua River Lodge offers 5 Safari Tents with thatched roofs, each with its own en-suite bathroom and gorgeous views over the Bua River or the woodland around.

The windows are made of mosquito gauze which keeps out the pesky insects but allows for the cool air to pass through the tent, even on the hottest days it stays cool.

The tents are secluded and private, and the furniture locally made, constructed from dead wood that has been found within the lodge site. Stay on Elephant Island, accessible via a stone bridge, the tent is surrounded by woodland and looks out onto the River.

Each of the tents is unique and offer a different perspective of the reserve.
