Welcome to Malawi! Your guide will meet you at Lilongwe International Airport and transfer you to our guesthouse in Lilongwe where you will be accommodated for the night before proceeding to South Luangwa.
The house has 6 staff to help cook, clean and look after you. Our home is well furnished and comfortable, with a pool, lovely garden, good social areas, modern kitchen, fast Wi-Fi and DSTV.
We now head to South Luangwa National Park, after breakfast you will depart for Chichele Presidential Lodge. Here you will enjoy the amazing life in the bush without the hustle and bustle of the city for the next four nights.
Sanctuary Chichele Presidential Lodge was originally built for Kenneth Kaunda, the former Zambian president, in the 1970s. This historic property was carefully restored to maintain the original colonial style. A majestic arched entrance leads you into a huge colonial-style lounge and outside the grand dining room a long veranda stretches with views down the valley to the Luangwa River. The main area features a comfortable lounge, intimate fireplace and bar area.
After these few quality days with the incredible Zambian wildlife, it is time to head back to Malawi.
We will go via Tribal Textiles, here they produce unique hand-painted fabrics in the heart of the African bush, empowering the community. Once we have crossed the border we will proceed to Senga Bay, Salima. From Salima you will take a 20-minute boat ride to Blue Zebra Island Lodge. Here you will be able to enjoy stunning surroundings, crystal clear waters and embrace island life. The lodge offers 8 exclusive tented en-suite chalets each overlooking the lake with some of crystal clear waters. The chalets are set in an unspoiled environment and guest are surrounded by nature and luxury.
After breakfast today, your Malawian Style driver will take you to Lujeri Lodge which is the next step on your tour itinerary.
Lujeri Lodge is a converted old style colonial house and is a fantastic spot with really nice friendly staff. After spending some hours on the road you might want to take a short walk to the blue lagoon pools, otherwise you can take the car.
It is time to get back on the wheels and head to the next destination… Mvuu Camp, Liwonde National Park.
Mvuu Camp overlooks a broad stretch of the Shire River (pronounced ‘Shiree’), with a profusion of hippos, crocodiles and the amazing birdlife of the Liwonde National Park. An impressive thatched dining and lounge area is situated nearby, offering a magnificent vista of the Shire River. Dinners are sometimes held under the stars in a specially constructed boma. Activities at Mvuu Camp revolve around boating trips on the Shire River and game drives (morning and afternoon/evening). Nature walks and bike rides are also incredibly popular.
After breakfast it is time to head back to the lakeshore where your accommodation will be at the fantastic lodge right on the shore of Lake Malawi. The Funky Cichlid Lodge is situated in Cape Maclear, 500 meters from the Lake Malawi National Park. The lodge has 13 rooms and dorms, with fans and mosquito nets in all its rooms. It is the best place to rest when you are tired from your leisure activities.

After breakfast it’s time to take the boat from Kayak Africa, and go to Domwe Island. Get back to basics at Domwe Island Adventure Camp. Simple yet exclusive, the camp lies behind a small beach on the island’s west side. Accommodation consists of three fully-furnished safari tents and two tent sites, complemented by a dining area with bar and a water sport gazebo.

Welcome to Malawi! Upon arrival at Lilongwe International Airport, you will be welcomed by your Malawian Style guide. After greeting we will start driving into Lilongwe. Your accommodation for the night will be at the tranquil Kumbali Country Lodge.
Kumbali Country Lodge is a private lodge, situated on a 650-hectare forest reserve and dairy farm land, only 10 minutes from the capital city, Lilongwe, along a quiet traffic-free road. The accommodation is stylish, relaxed and comfortable; it is much more than just another Lilongwe hotel.
On the second day, you will leave for Zambia, to one of the best national parks in Africa. Your accommodation will be at Wildlife Camp. Wildlife Camp is a safari camp on the banks of the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. The guests are provided with an affordable front–row seat to one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in Africa.
After these few quality days with the incredible Zambian wildlife, it is time to head back to Malawi. You will go via Tribal Textiles for some shopping and then later proceed across the border and on to Senga Bay, Salima. Your 2 nights will be spent at the Blue Zebra Island Lodge. It is situated in the Lake Malawi National Park on Nankoma Island which forms part of Marelli Island Archipelago.
The lodge offers 8 exclusive tented en-suite chalets each overlooking the lake with crystal clear waters. The chalets are set in an unspoiled environment and guest are surrounded by nature and luxury. You are free to chill at the infinity pool, kayak around the island or enjoy a game of volleyball as part of the full board package. The lodge also offers free use of snorkeling equipment to view the unique colorful fish that give the lodge its name and inhabit every inch of the coastline.
After a great island experience at Blue Zebra, it is now time to drive towards the stunning views of Mulanje Mountain. You will be staying at the lovely Lujeri Lodge. It is a converted old style colonial house with friendly and attentive staff. After your roadtrip, why not take a short walk or drive to admire (and even swim in, if you can brave the cold) the Blue Lagoon pools.
It is time to get back on the road and head to your next destination. After breakfast, your driver will transfer you to Liwonde National Park where the next two nights of your tour will be spent at Mvuu Camp situated right in the Liwonde National Park. After these few days tracking the incredible Zambia Wildlife, it is time to head back to Malawi. We will go via Tribal Textiles for a quick shopping trip and then later proceed to Cape Maclear. As the adventure continues it is time to take a trip to the beautiful beaches and clear waters of Lake Malawi at Cape Maclear.
The lodge offers air-conditioned rooms, perfect for a momentary escape from the African Sun. Leave your room and you are right on the lake, set to enjoy a day of water-based activities or relaxing in the sun. Wi-Fi is available for purchase in public areas, and a swimming pool, business center, and dry cleaning are onsite. All your meals will be next door at the Malawian Style owned, cheap and cheerful Funky Cichlid, where the food is AMAZING!! We will help plan any water sports and activities to make sure you have the perfect stay in Cape Maclear.
On the morning of day fourteen, you will be transferred by boat to Mumbo Island to experience Lake Malawi from a different angle. Rest and relaxation guaranteed! Mumbo Island is a pristine tropical island floating on the expansive waters of the Lake Malawi National Park. With a maze of massive underwater boulders, innumerable species of colorful cichlid fish and calm, clear water, the national park offers what many consider the best freshwater snorkelling and scuba diving in the world.

From Lilongwe, you will be taken to Kafunta in Zambia. Kafunta is a classic Zambian safari lodge where you will find the rest and peace you need after an exciting day of game drives with their highly knowledgeable guides. At Kafunta each of the luxury private chalets and the main lounge/dining area has fantastic views of the game rich flood plain. Next to the bar, resides the pool and the natural hot spring. This unique hot tub is fed from a completely natural geothermal source on Kafunta’s grounds. Here you can enjoy pure relaxation while being presented with magnificent views over the flood plain and the Luangwa River.

From Blue Zebra, you will be on your way to district of Thyolo in the south of Malawi. Here your destination will be Huntingdon House in Satemwa Tea Estate for a night of luxury. Arguably the most scenically beautiful region of Malawi, the Thyolo district forms the heart of Malawi’s tea producing region with rolling hills of immaculately cultivated, emerald green plantations and some of the oldest estates in the country. Huntingdon House was built in the 1920’s and the estate has been in the Cathcart Kay family for generations, with members of the family still running the tea and coffee production of the estate.
After tea tasting in Thyolo, you will be heading to Mvuu Lodge, in Liwonde National Park. The lodge nestles discreetly in a quiet lagoon just off the shire river with the main lounge area set above the water to make the most of the exceptional birdlife and resident hippos. Liwonde provides an excellent diversity of animals including lion, cheetah, black rhino, elephant, sable antelope, eland, zebra, impala and waterbuck. Activities at Mvuu Lodge revolve around boating trips on the Shire River and game drives (morning and afternoon/evening). Nature walks and bike rides are also incredibly popular, and not forgetting rhino tracking!
From Liwonde National Park, it’s now time to take you to Mumbo Island in Cape Maclear. Mumbo Island is a pristine tropical island floating on the expansive waters of the Lake Malawi National Park. You will fly into Mfuwe Airport where your guide will be waiting for you to transfer you to Robin’s House in South Luangwa National Park. Robin’s House is a small, private and exclusive house on the banks of the Luangwa River, ideal for young families or friends seeking a more indulgent type of safari. This two-bedroom house with main living area provides a shady and cool retreat from the African midday heat and if that is not enough there is a stunning plunge pool to soak in whilst looking over the Luangwa River.
We will stay in South Luangwa but heading to one of the bush camps, for an even more rustic safari experience. Luwi Bush Camp is located in the heart of the national park and close to a lagoon where hippos and crocodiles find their place. The rooms are simple yet extremely comfortable and are built each season using natural materials. Because of its remote location with no other camps nearby, it is the perfect place to do walking safaris and see the animals that are scarcely found in other parts of the national park.
After your experience in Zambia’s South Luangwa, you will proceed to Malawi’s tea growing district of Thyolo. In Thyolo you will be staying at Huntingdon House located in the stunning Tea Estate region for a night of luxury. Arguably the most scenically beautiful region of Malawi, The Thyolo district forms the heart of Malawi’s tea producing region with rolling hills of immaculately cultivated, emerald green plantations and some of the oldest estates in the country. Huntingdon House was built in the 1920’s and the estate has been in the Cathcart Kay family for generations, with members of the family still running the tea and coffee production of the estate.
There are several activities such as hiking and biking there are also lighter activities that can be arranged such as scenic walks, tea tasting and visits to the pools (dziwe la nkhalamba).

After breakfast you will be transferred to Lilongwe International Airport for your flight to Likoma Island where you will be accommodated at Kaya Mawa for the last four nights on your tour. Kaya Mawa Lodge is at the head of a crescent-shaped bay on Likoma Island, surrounded by mango trees and ancient baobabs. The main camp is located in a rocky outcrop, consisting of a bar, dining room and rock pool. Kaya Mawa has a number of stone and thatched cottages, with a luxurious & romantic villa on its own private island. The lodge was entirely built by hand, in partnership with the local community.
