Day 1-2: Kumbali House, Lilongwe

Welcome to Malawi, upon arrival at Lilongwe International Airport, your Malawian Style guide will welcome you and transfer you to Kumbali Cultural Village in Lilongwe for your first night.

Kumbali Cultural Village offers very rustic accommodation ideal for groups of visitors who want an original stay over in Lilongwe or for volunteers who want to work on the surrounding community projects, as well as being wonderful accommodation for corporate retreats, team building or school trips. It also offers a family friendly environment and special functions of Malawian cuisine and traditional entertainment are always a fun night out for visitors and locals.

Day 2-5: Marula Lodge, South Luangwa

After breakfast today, your Malawian Style guide will pick you up and we will start driving towards Mchinji border. Crossing the border into Zambia, we will drive straight to Marula Lodge in the South Luangwa National Park.

Marula Lodge has the enviable of being located right next to the main entrance of the South Luangwa National Park. Established in 1972, the park is internationally renowned as a truly magnificent wildlife haven.

The lodge provide comfortable and perfect chalet. On the outer perimeter of the camp, each chalet has just enough seclusion to make you feel at home with a chance to “put your feet up” between busy game viewing drives.

Day 5 – 7: Blue Zebra Lodge (Safari tents), Nankoma Island – Salima

After these few quality days at the incredible Zambian wildlife, it is time to head back to Malawi. You will go via the tribal textile and then later proceed to Salima. Your 3 nights will be spent at the Blue Zebra Lodge. It is situated in the Lake Malawi National Park on Nankoma Island which forms part of Marrelli Island Archipelago.The Lodge offers 8 exclusive tented en-suite chalets each overlooking the lake with some of crystal clear waters. The chalets are set in an unspoiled environment and guest are surrounded by nature and luxury.

Day 7-10: Lujeri Lodge, Mulanje Mountains

After breakfast today, your Malawian style driver will take you to Lujeri Lodge which is the next step on your tour itinerary.

Lujeri lodge is a converted old style colonial house and is a fantastic spot, with really nice friendly staff. After spending some hours on the road you might want to take a short walk to the Blue Lagoon pools, otherwise we can also take the car.

10 – 12: Mvuu Camp, Liwonde National Park (Camping)

It is time to get back on the wheels and head to the next destination… Mvuu Camp, Liwonde.

Mvuu Camp overlooks a broad stretch of the Shire River (pronounced Shiree), with a profusion of hippos, crocodiles and the amazing birdlife of the Liwonde National Park. An impressive thatched dining and lounge area is situated nearby, offering a magnificent vista of the Shire River. Dinners are sometimes held under the stars in a specially constructed BOMA. Activities at Mvuu Camp revolve around boating trips on the Shire River and game drives (morning and afternoon/evening). Nature walks and bike rides are also incredibly popular.

12 – 14: The Funky Cichlid Lodge – Cape Maclear

After breakfast it is time to head back to shore where your accommodation will be at the fantastic lodge right on the shore of Lake Malawi. The Funky Cichlid Lodge is situated at the Cape Maclear, 500 meters from the Lake Malawi National Park. The lodge has 13 rooms and dorms with fans and mosquito nets in all its rooms. It is a best place to rest when you are tired with leisure activities. The view of Lake Malawi generally holds stunning views and amazing birdlife.

Day 14 – 16: Domwe Island, Cape Maclear

After breakfast it’s time to take the boat from Kayak Africa, and go to Domwe Island. Time for some sun! Get back to basics at Domwe Island Adventure Camp. Simple yet exclusive. Domwe lies behind a small beach on the island’s west side. Accommodation consists of three fully-furnished safari tents and two tent sites, complemented by a Dining area with bar and a water sport gazebo.

Day 16: Departure Lilongwe


All the good things must come to an end and today breakfast your Malawian Style guide will drive you straight from Cape Maclear Mangochi to Lilongwe International Airport for your flight back home.

Kumbali Country Lodge is a private lodge, situated on a 650 hectare forest reserve and dairy farm land. Only 10 minutes from the capital city, Lilongwe, along a quiet traffic-free road. The accommodation is stylish, relaxed and informal; it is much more than just another Lilongwe hotel.

Day 2 – 5: Wildlife Camp, South Luangwa

On the second day, you will leave for Zambia, to one of the best National Parks in Africa. Your accommodation will be at the Wildlife Camp. Wildlife Camp is a safari camp on the banks of the Luangwa National park Zambia. The guests are provided with an affordable front – row seat to one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in Africa. At the camp there is rustic en-suite chalets, a secluded en-suite tented camp, a bush camp for overnight walking safari and a stunning campsite, all situated on the banks of the Luangwa.

5 – 7: Blue Zebra Lodge Luxury (Safari tents), Nankoma Island – Salima

Guest are free to chill at the infinity pool, kayak around the island or enjoy a game of volleyball as part of the board package. The lodge also offers free use of snorkeling equipment to view the unique colorful fish that inhabit every inch of the coastline.

7 – 10: Lujeri Lodge, Mulanje Mountains

After having a great Island experience at Blue Zebra, on Nankoma Island it is now time to drive towards the stunning views of Mulanje Mountain. Your place to stay is Lujeri Lodge. Lujeri lodge is a converted old style colonial house and  is a fantastic spot, with really nice friendly staff.  After spending  some hours  on the road you might want to take a  short walk to the Blue Lagoon pools, alternatively, we can take the car.

Day 10 – 12: Mvuu Camp, Liwonde National Park (Camping)

Day 12 -14: Annie’s Lodge, Cape Maclear

As the adventure continues it is time to take a trip to the beautiful beaches and clear waters of Lake Malawi at Cape Maclear. The lodge offers air conditioned rooms, perfect for a momentary escape from the African Sun. Leave your room and you are right on the lake, set to enjoy a day of water based activities or relaxing in the sun.

Day 14 – 16: Mumbo Island, Cape Maclear – Lake Malawi

On the morning of day fourteen, you will be transferred by boat to Mumbo Island to experience Lake Malawi from a different angle. Rest and Relaxation guaranteed! Mumbo Island is a pristine and deserted tropical island floating on the expansive waters of the Lake Malawi National Park. With a maze of massive underwater boulders, innumerable species of colorful cichlid fish and calm, clear water, the National Park offers what many consider the best freshwater snorkeling and SCUBA diving in the world.

Day 16: Departure Lilongwe

From Lilongwe, you will be taken to Kafunta in Zambia. Kafunta is a classic Zambian safari lodge where you will find the rest and peace you need after an exciting day of game drives with their highly knowledgeable guides. From Blue Zebra, you will be on your way to southern region’s Thyolo. Here your destination will be Huntingdon House. Huntingdon House is located in the stunning Tea Estate region for a night of luxury. Arguably the most scenically beautiful region of Malawi, The Thyolo district forms the heart of Malawi’s tea producing region with rolling hills of immaculately cultivated, emerald green plantations and some of the oldest estates in the country.  Huntingdon House was built in the 1920’s and the estate has been in the Cathcart Kay family for generations, with members of the family still running the tea and coffee production of the estate.

Day 11 – 13: Mvuu Lodge, Liwonde National Park

After tea tasting in Thyolo, you will be heading to Liwonde National Park at Mvuu Lodge. The lodge nestles discreetly in a quiet lagoon just off the shire river with the main lounge area set above the water to make the most of the exceptional birds along with the hippos an excellent diversity of animals including elephant, sable antelope, impala and waterbuck can be found in the area. Day 1 – 4: Robin’s House, South Luangwa

You will go from Lilongwe International Airport to South Luangwa Airport by plane. At South Luangwa, your guide will be waiting for you at the airport and drive you to Robins House. Robin’s House is a small, private and exclusive house on the banks of the Luangwa River, ideal for young families or friends seeking a more indulgent type of safari. This two bedroom house with main living area provides a shady and cool retreat from the African midday heat and if that is not enough there is a stunning plunge pool to soak in whilst looking over the Luangwa River.

Day 4 – 6: Luwi Bush Camp, South Luangwa

We will stay in South Luangwa but heading to one of the bush camps, for even more Safari experience. Luwi Bush Camp is located in the heart of the National Park and close to a lagoon where hippo’s and crocodiles find their place. The rooms are simple yet extremely comfortable. The rooms are built each season using natural materials. It is the perfect location to do walking safaris and see the animals which are not in other parts of the national park. The camp is extremely remote as there is no other camp around for many miles.

Day 6 – 9: Huntingdon House, Satemwa Tea Estates

After your experience in Zambia’s South Luwanga, you will proceed to Malawi’s tea growing district of Thyolo. In Thyolo you will be at Huntingdon House.Huntingdon House is located in the stunning Tea Estate region for a night of luxury. Arguably the most scenically beautiful region of Malawi, The Thyolo district forms the heart of Malawi’s tea producing region with rolling hills of immaculately cultivated, emerald green plantations and some of the oldest estates in the country. Huntingdon House was built in the 1920’s and the estate has been in the Cathcart Kay family for generations, with members of the family still running the tea and coffee production of the estate.

There are several activities such as Hiking and biking there are also lighter activities that can be arranged such as scenic walks, tea tasting, visits to the pools (dziwe la nkhalamba).

After breakfast you will be transferred to Lilongwe International Airport for your flight to Likoma Island where you will be accommodated at Kaya Mawa for the last four nights on your tour. Kaya Mawa Lodge is at the head of a crescent-shaped bay on Likoma Island, surrounded by mango trees and ancient baobabs. The main camp is located in a rocky outcrop, consisting of a bar, dining room and rock pool. Kaya Mawa has a number of stone, thatched cottages and 2 family beach villas, with a luxurious & romantic villa on its own private island. The lodge was entirely built by hand, in partnership with the local community. This will be your next destination from Liwonde National Park.

Day 16: Departure Lilongwe

All the good things must come to an end and today breakfast you will fly straight from Kaya Mawa to Lilongwe International Airport for your flight connection back home.
