Fans & A/C
The food here is brilliant, Jess has done an incredible job creating food that is renowned across the country. All the ingredients are grown freshly on the working farm including most of the meat, having trained globally jess infuses her worldly knowledge with Malawian flavours to produce some of the best meals we have had in Malawi. It is a firm favourite amongst the locals which should tell you everything you need to know.
The rooms here are spacious airy bright and quiet, all of them have private verandas that look out into the gardens. Because the lodge is on a farm you are surrounded by lush peaceful greenery, with a huge amount of birdlife, including owls which are permanently resided in the dining room ceiling. You can relax from the veranda and look out for of animals. The rooms themselves have large king sized comfortable beds with large en-suite bathrooms, it is the perfect place to unwind and wash away a long flight or rest before your onward departure.
There is actually a lot to do and see at Kumbali from touring the farm and tasting their homemade feta and yoghurt to bird watching in their 650 hectare forest reserve. They have a collection of antique cars available to rent to tour around the city or visit the permaculture centre which is right next to the school Kumbali sponsor. Do let them know if you are interested in community visits, they have strong ties with the surrounding community and have several projects on the go, which, I am sure, they would love to introduce you to.
