Boat transfer to Nankoma Island: 30 minutes.
Today, you leave Blue Zebra Island and head to Majete to safari for a few days. You will be accommodated at Thawale. Thawale Lodge is a peaceful haven from which to experience Majete Wildlife Reserve, the only Game reserve in Malawi where the “the big five” can be viewed. Completely unfenced, the Lodge is regularly visited by wildlife.

Enjoy your last morning in Zomba. Get ready to Leave the lodge just after your breakfast and start driving to your next destination – the Mvuu Camp in the Liwonde National Park. Mvuu Camp overlooks a broad stretch of the Shire River (pronounced Shiree), with a profusion of hippos, crocodiles and the amazing birdlife of the Liwonde National Park. An impressive thatched dining and lounge area is situated nearby, offering a magnificent vista of the Shire River.

Today after breakfast you will have a boat transfer to Mumbo island where you will spend the last two nights on your tour. Mumbo Island is a pristine and deserted tropical island floating on the expansive waters of the Lake Malawi National Park. With a maze of massive underwater boulders, innumerable species of colourful cichlid fish and calm, clear water, the National Park offers what many consider to be the best freshwater snorkelling and SCUBA diving in the world. All tents are fully furnished with en-suite bathrooms.

The lodge, accessible by footbridge suspended over the Mkulumadzi River, comprises of eight spacious chalets, each with private viewing decks offering dramatic and unimpeded views over the confluence of two rivers, the Mkulumadzi and the Shire.

Arguably the most scenically beautiful region of Malawi, The Thyolo district forms the heart of Malawi’s tea producing region with rolling hills of immaculately cultivated, emerald green plantations and some of the oldest estates in the country.
Huntingdon House was built in the 1920s and the estate has been in the Cathcart Kay family for generations, with members of the family still running the tea and coffee production of the estate. The grand old colonial style house is surrounded by magnificent gardens and beautiful old trees.

From the stunning Huntingdon House, get ready to drive to your next destination; the wonderful Kuthengo Camp in the Liwonde National Park.
