Day 1-2: Luwawa Forest Lodge, Viphya Plateau

Welcome to Malawi! Upon arrival at Lilongwe International Airport, you will be welcomed by your Malawian Style guide who, after greetings, will drive you to Luwawa Forest Lodge.

The lodge contains most things that you would require for a relaxing stay, including a sauna. There is plenty of room in the dining area of the lodge and all the food is freshly prepared using fresh organic vegetables from a vegetable garden. The staff take great pride in producing wholesome, homely and very tasty organic meals for everyone to enjoy. Breakfast, lunch and evening meals are served but you can also order afternoon snacks if required.

Day 2-4: Luwawa Mountain Bike Trail, Viphya Plateau

The Luwawa Mountain Bike trail takes three days cycling, a total distance of 150km, with the first night spent at Kasito Forestry Lodge with all facilities provided. The second night is spent camping outside Kawalazi Estate Club House, where a bar, showers, toilets and kitchen are provided. All food, cooking, camping and mountain biking equipment for the three days is provided along with a back- up vehicle, guides, mechanic and first aid equipment.

Day 1: Approx. 42km (around 4 hours of cycling + breaks)

Day 2: Approx. 38km (around 4 hours of cycling + breaks)

Day 3: Approx. 40kKm (around 5 hours of cycling Biking + breaks)

Day 4 – 6: Makuzi Beach Lodge, Chintheche

After three days of biking you will end the trail at Makuzi Beach Lodge in Chintheche to rest and recuperate.

Makuzi Beach Lodge is situated on the lush northern shores of Lake Malawi. It is one of the Malawi’s only private white sand beaches which provides guest with a superb, secluded retreat and wonderful views across Africa’s third water fresh lake. All chalets are en-suite with stunning lake views and are set in perfectly manicured gardens. This relaxed lakeshore lodge is a perfect retreat with a well-deserved reputation for warm hospitality and great facilities. Makuzi Beach Lodge is a perfect location for a romantic getaway or a family holiday.

Day 6 – 8: Chelinda Camp, Nyika National Park

As soon as you are done with breakfast, we will depart from Makuzi Beach and drive you over to Chelinda, an alpine experience, unique on the African continent.

Located high on the Nyika Plateau within Nyika National Park, Chelinda Lodge is nestled in the alpine highlands of Nyika National Park. It lies against a magnificent backdrop of rolling hills, isolated ridges with rich grasslands.

Warm clothing should also be carried as nights on the plateau get chilly.

Day 8 – 10: Hiking Trail, Nyika National Park

Today you will do The Livingstonia Trail, which is a two-night/three-day hike comprising approximately six hours walking per day. The first day traverses the high plateau grasslands as far as the Phata Stream where camp is made.

The second day is a steep descent through the Mwenembwe Forest to the boundary of the Nyika National Park at Chakaka Village.

The third day is along the steep sided North Rumphi valley through Malawian villages where the people eke out an existence from the steep slopes. There is then a final ascent to Livingstonia.

Day 10 – 12: Sangilo Sanctuary Lodge, Livingstonia

After the hike you will go to Sangilo Lodge. Here you have two nights to recover and enjoy the beautiful northern lakeshore.

Nestled around a secluded cove on the Sangilo peninsula, the Sanctuary Lodge provides an idyllic escape to the lake in northern Malawi. The tastefully furnished cliff-top chalets provide a unique view along the peninsula, to Chilumba Island and across Lake Malawi to the magnificent Livingstonia mountain range in Tanzania.

Day 12: Departure Lilongwe

All good things must come to an end! Your Malawian Style guide will drive you back to Lilongwe International Airport for your flight back home. End of Tour.

As soon as you are done with breakfast, we will depart from Makuzi Beach Lodge and drive you over to Chelinda for an alpine experience, unique on the African continent.

Located high on the Nyika Plateau within Nyika National Park, Chelinda Camp overlooks a crystal-clear dam with panoramic views of rolling hills and isolated ridges with a rich expanse of grasslands, dotted with herds of wildlife from eland to zebras and roan antelope. Accommodation at Chelinda Camp consists of two options. There are four chalets which have two bedrooms, a bathroom, lounge, dining area with a fireplace and a small kitchen. There are also six en-suite rooms with twin beds which share a dining, bar and lounge area complete with luxurious furnishings and an inviting fireplace for those cosy nights.
