Welcome to Malawi! Your guide will meet you at Lilongwe International Airport and transfer you to the Malawian Style Guesthouse in Lilongwe where you will be accommodated for the night before proceeding to South Luangwa.
In the heart of Area 12, the guesthouse is a 5 minute walk from The Four seasons centre, 15 minute walk from The Golden Peacock Shopping Centre and the City Centre is about 20 minute walk. We are a few kilometres from Kumbali Country Lodge and have a supermarket 50 metres from the house. The house has 6 staff to help cook, clean and look after you. Our home is well furnished and comfortable, with a pool, lovely garden, good social areas, modern kitchen, fast Wi-Fi and DSTV.
After breakfast, it is time to head South Luangwa National Park’s Croc Valley Camp. Croc Valley Camp is set on the banks of the picturesque South Luangwa River. Set in the riverine forest, the camp is designed to be deliberately inconspicuous so as to retain the natural beauty of the surroundings and encourage wildlife to roam freely. An abundance of wildlife such as elephants, monkeys, hippos and a wide variety of antelope often pass through the camp and can be seen most days from the safety of our shaded rondavels, the bar, restaurant, chalets and tents.
On arrival at the camp you will have some time to appreciate your new home in the bush for the next few days. In the evening enjoy dinner at the tented camp restaurant overlooking the Luangwa River, watching elephants cross at dusk, and relax over a drink before retiring for the evening. In between morning and evening game drives feel free to take a refreshing swim in the pool or relax in the bar.
After these few days tracking the incredible Zambian wildlife, it is time to head back to Malawi. We will go via Tribal Textiles, here they produce unique hand-painted fabrics in the heart of the African bush, empowering the community. Once we have crossed the border we will proceed to Cape Maclear where your next few nights will be spent at The Funky Cichlid.
The Funky Cichlid Lodge is situated on the beach of Cape Maclear, 500 meters from the Lake Malawi National Park. The lodge has 13 rooms and dorms with fans and mosquito nets in all its rooms. It is the best place to rest when you are tired from leisure activities.
After breakfast at The Funky Cichlid, you will have a boat transfer to Domwe Island where you will be accommodated for the next three nights.
Domwe Island is the largest unpopulated island in Lake Malawi, with a circumference of 11km and a highest point 400m above lake level. Domwe Island Adventure Camp is basic yet exclusive. It lies behind a small beach on the island’s west side. From solar lighting to dry compost toilets Domwe aims to be as eco-friendly as possible, so during your stay here you will be living authentically alongside nature.
All good things must come to an end and after breakfast you will be transferred to Lilongwe International Airport for your flight back home.
