Game Haven Lodge is situated at Chimwenya Private Game Park, Bvumbwe, and just 25km from Blantyre – Malawi’s commercial capital. The lodge is beautifully designed and has been built with the golden rock found on the estate itself. The main area looks out onto beautifully manicured lawns where you will often see the local residents enjoying a morning or afternoon graze. Enjoy a drink and some nibbles on the veranda where you can catch a spectacular view of the sun going down.

Wherever you go in Malawi you are always greeted with the warmest of welcomes, the staff at Game Haven are friendly and attentive and always on hand to assist with your needs. It’s a peaceful getaway and it was great to sit back after a long journey and watch the sun go down, which was absolutely stunning. A highlight was opening the curtains to one of the most majestic beauties not far from the room – a Giraffe – it is always so exciting!

Lodge Key Features

Animals & Gardens

The lawns and gardens are a real feature at Game Haven, they are so beautifully manicured, and we are sure the Antelope and Zebra have a huge part to play in this. You will often see the animals roaming freely onto the main lawn area, with not a care or worry in the world for who is around them – they are still wild so don’t get too close, but you can enjoy them from a perfect proximity and watch them for hours whilst you relax and unwind after a full day of exciting activities.

Accommodation

The lodge has 28 rooms and can sleep up to 98 people – it is perfect for those extended family holidays or group bookings. The executive rooms are simple but comfortable whilst the luxury cottages offer a more intimate homely feel with wonderful views. They also offer 3 self-catering fully furnished cottages, so it’s great for large families wanting to stay together – there really is something here to suit everyone.

Location

It is hard to believe that this little slice of ‘Haven’ is just around the corner from busy Blantyre. It’s the perfect spot to spend a few days to relax and unwind, enjoy a game drive, head out to the lake for a BBQ or take the family on an adventurous mountain bike excursion. There is something here for everyone to enjoy, all in one very convenient location, including a 9-hole golf course and mountain bikes to hire.

  • Wonderful Family Getaway with Relaxing Game Drive

    I visited here with my 7 year old daughter and my aunt as part of a long weekend getaway. I had looked at some pictures before going, but the photos do not do it justice. Once you park and walk through the lodge to the patio and see the green lawn and tremendous views of undulating hills, and see zebra and wildebeest and nyala grazing not 50 feet away

  • Heaven on Earth and safari without the extreme fatigue!

    Game Have Lodge was absolute proof that every cloud has a silver lining. Thanks to the boss, Greg, everything was sorted out after a car accident turning onto the access road, and he alleviated our stress by giving us a free upgrade from a really nice room to a luxury cottage. That ensured we managed to relax pretty quickly. The accommodation is stunning and without a doubt the most comfortable we have had anywhere in Malawi.

  • Stunning sunsets and sundowners!

    This was a great place to stay in the Blantyre region. We did a marvelous tea tasting and they provided game drives to see their small collection of local animals. But the best part was a walk at sunset down to the lake for sundowners and watching the animals retire for the night.
