Mid Range

Day 1-5: Nkonzi, South Luangwa

Welcome to Zambia! You will fly into Mfuwe, the gateway to South Luangwa National Park. A Malawian Style representative will meet you and transfer you to Nkonzi, your home for the next four nights. 

Nkonzi Camp is for those who want a bit of adventure, who urge to explore the park as the founders once did all those years ago! Run by Gavin Opie, a well-renowned guide, it is a chance to see some of the parks unique flora and fauna. With an emphasis on the wildlife, this is the time to really delve into nature and learn all about the valley.

Day 5-7: Blue Zebra - Luxury Safari Tent, Nankoma Island

After breakfast we will start driving to Senga Bay in Salima where you will have a boat transfer to Nankoma Island, your accommodation for the next two nights will be at the Blue Zebra Lodge.

It is situated in the Lake Malawi National Park on Nankoma Island which forms part of Marelli Island Archipelago. It offers 8 exclusive tented en suite chalets each overlooking the lake with views of the crystal clear waters. The chalets are set in an unspoiled environment and guests are surrounded by nature and luxury. Guests are free to chill at the infinity pool, Kayak around the islands or enjoy a game of volleyball as part of the board package. The lodge also offers free use of snorkelling equipment to view the unique colourful fish that inhabit every inch of the coastline.

Day 7-9: Thawale, Majete

Today, you leave Blue Zebra Island and head to Majete to safari for a few days. You will be accommodated at Thawale. Thawale Lodge is a peaceful haven from which to experience Majete Wildlife Reserve, the only Game reserve in Malawi where the “the big five” can be viewed. Completely unfenced, the Lodge is regularly visited by wildlife.

Day 9-11: Zomba Forest Lodge, Zomba Plateau

Enjoy your last morning at Thawale. After breakfast, we will depart from the Majete and head towards Zomba Plateau. Estimated time of arrival in Zomba is around lunchtime, we will drive straight to the Zomba Forest Lodge, in a stunning location on Zomba Plateau.

This is an inviting, charming lodge with 4 rooms, boasting a colourful and lush garden to explore; a real treat to walk around and sight birdlife.

Zomba Forest Lodge is a fantastic location, just a few minutes away from the stables for Horse Riding about the Zomba Plateau.

Day 11-14: Mvuu Camp - Chalets, Liwonde

Mvuu Camp, based on the banks of the Shire River is an affordable haven for Malawi wildlife. From the plentiful crocs and hippos on the banks of the river to the large herds of elephants, antelope and newly introduced cheetah and lion! Most famed for its river safaris, Liwonde is not to be missed!

Day 14-16: Mumbo Island, Cape Maclear

Today after breakfast you will transfer to Mumbo island where you will spend the last two nights on your tour. Mumbo Island is a pristine and deserted tropical island floating on the expansive waters of the Lake Malawi National Park. With a maze of massive underwater boulders, innumerable species of colourful cichlid fish and calm, clear water, the National Park offers what many consider to be the best freshwater snorkelling and SCUBA diving in the world. All tents are fully furnished with en-suite bathrooms.

Day 16: Departure Lilongwe

All the good things must come to an end! Your Malawian Style guide will drive you back to Lilongwe International Airport for your flight back home. End of Tour…

Day 1-5: Chikunto, South Luangwa

Welcome to Zambia! Upon arrival in South Luangwa, you will be met by a Malawian Style representative who will transfer you to Chikunto.

Chikunto is a new lodge to South Luangwa, built in 2017. It is one to visit before the crowds come. In a prime location between the north and middle sections of the park, you can cover a lot of ground in a day which is prime for sightings.

With huge luxury tents, a pool and some of the best food we’ve had on safari, it’s one for those looking for a bit of luxury in the wild.

Day 5-7: Blue Zebra - Executive Chalets, Nankoma Island

Day 7-9: Mkulumadzi, Majete

After breakfast, it is time to head to Majete Wildlife Reserve. Undiscovered by tourists, Majete is a true wilderness! You will be accommodated at the stunning Mkulumadzi Lodge for the next two nights of your tour.

Mkulumadzi enjoys an idyllic location at the confluence of two rivers shaded by giant Leadwood trees. It is the perfect combination of splendid isolation and first-class facilities.

Day 9-11: Huntingdon House, Thyolo Tea Estates

Arguably the most scenically beautiful region of Malawi, The Thyolo district forms the heart of Malawi’s tea producing region with rolling hills of immaculately cultivated, emerald green plantations and some of the oldest estates in the country. Huntingdon House was built in the 1920s and the estate has been in the Cathcart Kay family for generations, with members of the family still running the tea and coffee production of the estate. The grand old colonial style house is surrounded by magnificent gardens and beautiful old trees.

Day 11-14: Kuthengo, Liwonde

From the stunning Huntingdon House, get ready to drive to your next destination; the wonderful Kuthengo Camp in the Liwonde National Park.

On a large open plain on the banks of the Shire River in Liwonde National Park, Kuthengo Camp is idyllically nestled between yellow-tree acacia and baobab trees. African fish eagles nesting in the baobabs of the surrounding area will wake you to the ‘Call of Africa’ during your stay in this wild natural paradise. Their four spacious and modern tents have ensuite bathrooms, each with double sinks, bathtub and open-air shower.

Day 14-16: Pumulani, Cape Maclear

Today it is time to head to the Lake Malawi. After breakfast, prepare to leave Kuthengo. Your Malawian Style guide will pick you and drive towards Cape Maclear and turn on the way to the beautiful Pumulani Lodge.

Pumulani is an exclusive beach lodge within Lake Malawi National Park. The lodge has ten individually-designed villas spread out along a lush hillside overlooking the lake. Each villa boasts a large bedroom, a spacious living area and a private deck with lake view. Guests can relax on the sandy beach or at our stylish infinity pool. For those seeking activity, there is waterskiing, sailing, diving, wakeboarding, kayaking, snorkelling, fishing and bird watching.

Day 16: Departure Lilongwe

Day 1-3: Kakuli, South Luangwa

Welcome to Zambia! You will fly into Mfuwe from Lilongwe and be transferred to Kakuli.

Perched high above the Luangwa River, Time + Tide Kakuli offers impressive vistas of the river’s many visitors below. Designed to celebrate the panoramic setting, the suites have a long, low profile and a bright, airy feel. Freshly redesigned in 2018, the suites offer comfort in all seasons by incorporating features such as a covered open-air lounge and indoor and outdoor showers. Right from your suite, you can listen to the bellowing hippos, see bee-eaters perform their aerial acrobatics and watch elephants and giraffes wandering down to the river. 

Day 3-5: Chinzombo, South Luangwa

If you want luxury in the bush, look no further than Chinzombo! By far the most glamorous boutique lodge in the valley, it is like staying in a 5-star hotel in the wilderness. From the excellent staff who are attentive to your every need to the incredible food the chefs serve to your incredibly spacious open room and let’s not forget the first-rate guiding.

Day 5-7: Huntingdon House, Satemwa Tea Estates

Mkulumadzi Lodge is surrounded by 7,000 hectares of a private concession. It is the perfect combination of splendid isolation and first-class facilities.

Undiscovered by tourists, Majete is a true wilderness where every trip into the bush with the experienced guides will make you feel like an adventurer.

Day 9-12: Mvuu Lodge, Liwonde

Mvuu Lodge is Liwonde’s premier lodge, the first in the park. It is in the key location for wildlife viewing. Based on the river there are regular hippos, crocs, antelope and elephants on the ‘front lawn’. The main lounge building is set high above the water for long views up-river. Accommodation comprises eight luxurious tents, each with en-suite bathroom facilities and a private viewing platform looking out on the lagoon.

Day 12-16: Kaya Mawa, Likoma Island

It is now time to fly to the evergreen northern part of Malawi where you will spend four nights.

Kaya Mawa Lodge is at the head of a crescent-shaped bay on Likoma Island, surrounded by mango trees and ancient baobabs. The main camp is located in a rocky outcrop, consisting of a bar, dining room and rock pool. Kaya Mawa has a number of stone, thatched cottages and 2 family beach villas, with a luxurious & romantic villa on its own private island. The lodge was entirely built by hand, in partnership with the local community.

Day 16: Departure Lilongwe
