Day 1-4: The Zambezi Sun, Livingstone

Welcome to Africa! Upon arrival at the Livingstone Airport you will be welcomed by a representative from The Zambezi Sun Hotel. After greetings, you will be transferred to the hotel.

The Zambezi Sun Hotel is located on the Eastern cataract of the Victoria Falls. The hotel’s architecture reflects earthly colours and is inspired by an African village. The Zambezi Sun’s structure finishes are decorated by various mosaics and fabrics. The hotel is designed to provide guests with an unforgettable experience and to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The hotel’s location is in a prime position on the Zambian side of the Zambezi River and guests shouldn’t be surprised to find the occasional zebra or impala wandering through the hotel’s well maintained grounds.

Day 4-7: Kasaka River Lodge, Lower Zambezi

After breakfast at the Zambezi Sun Hotel you will be transferred to Livingstone airport for your flight to Lower Zambezi via Lusaka. At the airstrip, you will be met by a representative from Kasaka River Lodge and will transfer you to the lodge.

Kasaka River Lodge offers an authentic and memorable safari experience set in a natural bush environment with each chalet secluded amongst the native flora. The cultivated side has beautiful manicured gardens with swimming pool and colourful indigenous plants and a more natural bush side which is connected to the main lodge by overhead walkways to allow for the passage of wildlife within the camp. Kasaka’s main living area and deck area are nestled amongst the tamarind trees creating the perfect location for watching the world go
by on the river and viewing various species of wildlife on Nyamangwe Island.

Day 7-10: Flatdogs Camp, South Luangwa

From the Kasaka River Lodge, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Lusaka Airport where you will connect to your flight to Mfuwe Airport. At the Mfuwe you will be welcomed by representatives from Flatdogs Camp and transfer you to the camp in the South Luangwa National Park.

The South Luangwa National Park is one of the last great wildlife wonders of the world. It is nine thousand square kilometres (3,475 square miles) of pristine wilderness in Zambia‘s Eastern Province. The South Luangwa has been visited by wildlife enthusiasts from all over the world since its creation as a national park in 1972. Flatdogs is unique in many ways, one of which is definitely the restaurant. There are no set meals or meal times here – guests can order what they’d like to eat, when they’d like to eat it. The restaurant seats around 45 people either inside under the thatch, or at our tables in the courtyard or in the garden area overlooking the river.

Day 10-11: Kumbali Country Lodge, Lilongwe

Today after breakfast, your Malawian Style guide will pick you from Flatdogs Camp and start driving to Lilongwe, Malawi. You will have a stop at Tribal Textiles and then start driving straight to Lilongwe. Your accommodation for the night will be at the tranquil Kumbali Country Lodge.

Kumbali Country Lodge is a private lodge, situated on a 650 hectare forest reserve and dairy farm land. Only 10 minutes from the capital city, Lilongwe, along a quiet traffic-free road. The accommodation is stylish, relaxed and informal; it is much more than just another Lilongwe hotel.

Day 11-13: Huntingdon House, Satemwa Tea Estates

Today is time to head to the stunning Tea Estate region for a night of luxury. Arguably the most scenically beautiful region of Malawi, the Thyolo district forms the heart of Malawi’s tea producing region with rolling hills of immaculately cultivated, emerald green plantations and some of the oldest estates in the country.

Huntingdon House was built in the 1920’s and the estate has been in the Cathcart Kay family for generations, with members of the family still running the tea and coffee production of the estate. The grand old colonial style house is surrounded by magnificent gardens and beautiful old trees.

Day 13-15: Malawian Style Zomba Cottage

From the tea region of Malawi we will start driving to the beautiful Zomba Plateau. Arriving in Zomba we will drive up the mountain to the plateau and drive straight to Malawian Style Zomba Cottage.

A home away from home, this simple cosy cottage is a great escape. Easily the best location on the mountain, just 5 minutes walk from Zomba Dam and horse stables. There are two bedrooms, one double and one twin room. There will be a member of staff on hand cook, clean, milk the cows for fresh milk and help out however necessary to make this stay as relaxing and care free as can be. The cottage has a newly refurbished bathroom with shower and bath, modern kitchen with all cooking equipment, free broadband WIFI & DSTV.

Day 15-17: Mvuu Camp, Liwonde National Park

Mvuu Camp overlooks a broad stretch of the Shire River (pronounced Shiree), with a profusion of hippos, crocodiles and the amazing birdlife of the Liwonde National Park. An impressive thatched dining and lounge area is situated nearby, offering a magnificent vista of the Shire River. Dinners are sometimes held under the stars in a specially constructed boma.

Activities at Mvuu Camp revolve around boating trips on the Shire River and game drives (morning and afternoon/evening). Nature walks and bike rides are also incredibly popular.

Day 17-19: Mumbo Island, Lake Malawi

It is time to head towards the lakeshore and the magical Mumbo Island. Your boat departs from Kayak Africa in Cape Maclear at 15:00 hours. During the coming days it is time to see, feel and enjoy the country’s most famous destination – Lake Malawi.

Your accommodation will be at the camp of the beautiful Mumbo Island, 10km/45 min by boat from Cape Maclear. Mumbo Island is a pristine and deserted tropical island floating on the expansive waters of Lake Malawi National Park. With a maze of massive underwater boulders, innumerable species of colourful cichlid fish and calm, clear water, the national park offers what many consider the best freshwater snorkelling and SCUBA diving in the world.

Day 19-20: Danforth Yachting, Cape Maclear

After breakfast it is time to get the boat back to the mainland and head to your next piece of paradise on the Cape Maclear main land. Danforth Yachting is both a Malawi yacht charter company and a luxury lodge, focusing on sailing and water sports. All rooms have spectacular views of the lake and look out over Thumbi West Island. The garden has shady lawns, leading to the sparkling, beach side, and infinity swimming pool. Moored just a stone’s throw away is the luxury yacht Mufasa.

From the Royal Zambezi Lodge, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Lusaka Airport, connecting to Mfuwe. At the Mfuwe you will be welcomed by representatives from Kafunta River Lodge. From the airport you will be transferred to the lodge in the South Luangwa National Park.

Kafunta River Lodge is a classic Zambian safari lodge where you will find the rest and peace you need after an exciting day of game drives with their highly knowledgeable guides. At Kafunta River Lodge each of the luxury private chalets and the main lounge/dining area have fantastic views of the game rich flood plain.

Rising 1,800m, Zomba is a beautiful location to go biking, horse riding or just relaxing and enjoying pleasant walks through forest, beside streams or across open grassland. Due to the higher altitude the plateau often feels pleasantly cool compared to other parts of the country. At Zomba Plateau you will also have the chance to see many different birds.

After breakfast it is time to head into the wild for a Malawian safari, where for the first time you might spot the endangered Black Rhino. Mvuu Lodge is an excellent vantage point from which to explore the captivating variety and beauty of Liwonde National Park. The lodge nestles discreetly in a quiet lagoon just off the shire river with the main lounge area set above the water to make the most of the exceptional birds along with the hippos an excellent diversity of animals including elephant, sable antelope, impala and waterbuck can be found in the area.

The Sausage Tree Camp is set in the most stunning location on the banks of the Zambezi River in the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park’s best game viewing area. From Sausage Tree Camp, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Lusaka where you will connect with your flight to Mfuwe Airport. At the airport, you will be met by a representative from Lion Camp and will then transfer you to the camp in the South Luangwa National Park.

A stylish, unique and independent lodge situated in a remote part of South Luangwa National Park with abundant and uncongested game viewing on the doorstep. Lion Camp has just nine canvas and thatch chalets accommodating a maximum of 18 guests. Built on raised wooden platforms, they are linked to each other and the main area by a raised wooden boardwalk. Each chalet has either a four poster king-size double bed or twin beds, and a walk-in mosquito net. Day 15-17: Mvuu Camp, Liwonde National Park

After breakfast it is time to head into the wild for a Malawian safari, where for the first time you might spot the endangered Black Rhino.

Mvuu Lodge is an excellent vantage point from which to explore the captivating variety and beauty of Liwonde National Park. The lodge nestles discreetly in a quiet lagoon just off the shire river with the main lounge area set above the water to make the most of the exceptional birds along with the hippos an excellent diversity of animals including elephant, sable antelope, impala and waterbuck can be found in the area. Activities at Mvuu lodge revolve around boating trips on the Shire River and game drives (morning and afternoon/evening). Nature walks and bike rides are also incredibly popular.

Day 17-21: Kaya Mawa, Likoma Island

From Liwonde, you will flight to Likoma Island on Lake Malawi. Arriving at Likoma, you will be welcomed by a representative from the Kaya Mawa Lodge and will transfer you to the lodge.

Kaya Mawa Lodge is at the head of a crescent-shaped bay on Likoma Island, surrounded by mango trees and ancient baobabs. This remote island is home to a very small community, surrounded by the crystal-clear waters of Lake Malawi. The main camp is located in a rocky outcrop, consisting of a bar, dining room and rock pool. Kaya Mawa has a number of stone, thatched cottages and 2 family beach villas, with a luxurious & romantic villa on its own private island. The lodge was entirely built by hand, in partnership with the local community.

Day 21: Lilongwe


Sadly all good things must come to an end, today it is time to journey on home. You will be transferred to Likoma Island Airport for a flight to Lilongwe International Airport. At Lilongwe International Airport, you will connect with your flight back home. We hope you will take fantastic memories of your vacation back with you and return to Africa soon!
