Zomba & Mulanje 5 day hiking getaway (USD 600 per person)

ZOMBA PLATEAU: The Zomba Plateau is arguably Zomba's most famous feature. In some parts, it rises to 1800m in height and is covered with vast tracts of African Juniper and Widdringtonia, and other mixed vegetation. The top of the plateau is criss-crossed by streams and is dotted with waterfalls and still lakes.

MULANJE MOUNTAIN: is one of the very remarkable natural resources in Malawi. Apart from its famous and imposing Sapitwa Peak that stands over 3000 meters above sea level, the attractive Mt. Mulanje is more than a rock. It has a very rich and stunning forest reserve which is home to a rich and diverse endemic plant and animal species.

Day 1Day 1
Day 1 - 3: Depart Lilongwe at around 9am and head for Zomba Plateau, where we will be based in the stunning Malawian Style cottage, that is very quaint, homely and a short walk from the famous Zomba Dam. We will be based here for the next two nights on a full board basis. Enjoy the stunning scenery, spectacular walks, waterfalls and rock pools. If you would like bike rides and horse riding can be organized.
Day 2-4Day 2-4
Day 3 - 5: After breakfast we will make our way to Lujeri Tea Estates, where we will park the vehicle at the bottom of the mountain by the hydro. This is when the real fun begins as we head off on a challenging but fun 3 day/2 night hike up to Madzeka, Chinzama and Minunu chalets. This is the Malawi’s “island in the sky” and is an absolutely stunning walk thorugh tea plantations, waterfalls, rock pools… although hard work it is very rewarding when you reach the top.
Day 4Day 4
Day 5: After an early breakfast we will head back down the mountain via the stunning Minunu pools. We should be back by midday, after which we will head back to Lilongwe.
